Speakers:
Luke Anderson
Author of Genetic, Engineering, Food and our Environment, founder of the
Totnes
Genetics
Group and consultant to the soil association's genetic engineering campaign.
Regularly asked to
speak in the UK, US, Russia, Australia and New Zealand.
Dr John Gatehouse
Durham Biology Department, research interest in engineering insect resistance
in plants.
Involved in research involving the production of transgenic plants to evaluate
the potential of
different genes in terms of insect resistance.
Dr Phill Gates
Durham Biology Department, research interests include crop botany, including
the ecological
impact and ethical implications of genetic engineering.
Professor Cooper
Durham Philosophy Department, research interests include philosophy and the
environment.
Article recently written for the London Review of Books on the subject.
Each speaker will give a 5-10 minute introduction to their views, the majority
of time will then
be available for questions and discussion.
