GE - Parish Polls on GM

PARISH POLLS ON GM

Totnes Genetics Group (ToGG) is lobbying its local Town Council to support a
resolution on GM Food and Crops on Monday 6th September.  The wording of the
resolution, which can be adapted for adoption by parish councils across the
country, is given below.  Please feel free to copy and use it.
ToGG has avoided the paperwork and cost to taxpayers of a full parish poll
by calling upon local businesses to petition the council to adopt the
motion.  [Should this fail, a parish poll will be arranged - which
councillors know would inevitably lead to adoption of the same resolution
but at a greater cost].  To date over 120 businesses and community groups in
this town of 8,000 people have supported the resolution.
