Dear GENET-news readers,

on March 18 you could read the first of a series of messages on
studies with disillusioning results about GE crop yields in
GENET-news (US study on yield and farmers' costs of RR soybeans).
The author Dr. Oplinger - working in the University of Wisconsin
Soybean and Small Grain Research and Extension Program  -
published a series of 22 slides with detailed results on
university's homepage. To spread the results of this useful work
more easily I compiled all informations given by the slides in
the following email text. Only two maps and one figure could not
be transferred, please use the URLs to download them.

Oplinger's conclusions are as follows:
- Roundup Ready soybean variety yields ranged from 14% less to
  13% more than conventional varieties.
- Roundup Ready soybean varieties avereged 4% lower yields than
  conventional varieties.
- Soybean growers will continue to increase acres of RR varieties
  and will sacrifice maximum yields for ease of weed control.
